Because each repair is unique, we like to see the item before offering an estimate. We offer a free 15 minute consultation at our Anchorage shop, or drop off services at The Hoarding Marmot in Anchorage. After picking up your gear, we will inspect the problem and contact you with a quote.
Zipper repair
Separating zippers are the most common repair we do. Zipper repairs can be done when the zipper tape and teeth are still in functional condition, but the slider is not closing the zipper correctly. We replace the slider with a genuine YKK® Zipper Slider of the correct size and your off on your next adventure!
Zipper Replacement
Molded zippers that lost a tooth, coil zippers that tore at the zipper tape, or jacket zippers that have lost the bottom stop all need a full zipper replacement. We can often get a factory replacement for you zipper, or choose an in-stock replacement for quicker turn around.
Cuff guards
Girdwood is a ski town, so we see plenty of cut up and torn pant cuffs. Besides looking shabby, a torn cuff is a great way to catch a ski brake or crampon, which can really wreck your day. We rebuild your cuffs using genuine Cordura® Fabrics, for great durability and style. Keprotec® also available.
Drysuit repair (Not Currently Offered)
Drysuits are a critical piece of gear for exploring the waters of Alaska. We offer pressure testing, leak repair and sealing and gasket repairs on all brands of exposure (not diving) drysuits. We repair Kokotat®, OS Systems®, NRS®, Bomber Gear®, Mythic® and other brands drysuits. Make sure your drysuit is completely ready to keep you dry on your next paddling or watersports adventure!
Commercial repairs
We have over two decades of experience in the professional outdoor industry, and understand the needs of outfitters, guides and organizations. Our repair services allow you to get the most from your existing gear, while maintaining professional appearance and functionality. We can seam tape your embroidered logos, provide heat transfer logos for uniforms, and apply velcro for name tags. We work with our commercial clients to provide repairs during your off season, and to meet your operational needs. Contact us to discuss your gear repair needs.
Patches
We offer a number of solutions for repairing holes and tears. From adhesive tapes to custom thermo-welded, or Cordura® sewn patches, we can fix that campfire ember hole that has been leaking insulation from your favorite puffy, or patch your favorite hunting pack.
Seam taping
We offer seam taping of water proof breathable fabrics like GoreTex®, Event® NeoShell® and others. This allows us to repair your waterproof breathable pants and jackets to factory finish and performance.
Snaps
We offer replacement of most common snaps including the plastic KAM® style snaps. We can often source factory replacement snaps as well.
Mending
Have a bunch of gear that is tired and worn out? tired of the duct tape look? We can provide general mending for all your outdoor gear.
Welded seam repair
Modern outdoor clothing is often made with "welded" seams. While we believe that stitched seams will always last longer, there are some reasons to repair your gear with this technique. We are happy to tell you when we think this technique will work for your application.
Backpacks
Backpacks are often the critical piece of gear for outdoor adventures. They carry loads both simple, and bizarre, from our normal camping gear, tent, cook wear, clothes to whole moose quarters and that trophy sheep skull, we ask a lot from out packs. We can rebuild or reproduce lost or worn waist belts, reinforce straps and haul handles and have even rebuilt lumbar pads. Backpacks are expensive, keep yours functioning at it's best, so you can perform at your best.
